THANKSGIVING SOON TO BE HERE AND WE USUALY HAVE LEFTOVER TURKEY. WE USUALY HAD BOTH TURKEY AND HAM FOR THANKSGIVING. I'VE BEEN MAKING THIS FOR MANY YEARS. IN LATER YEARS, WHEN THERE WAS ONLY THE 2 OF US, WE LOVED THIS RECIPE. I SERVE THIS ALONG WITH A SIDE OF BUTTERED EGG NOODLES AND CARROTS. AND OF COURSE, WE ALSO MADE TURKEY SOUP.

Ingredients
- CASSEROLE INGREDIENTS:
- 4 cups cooked turkey chunks
- 1 1/2 cups shredded swiss cheese
- 2 cups ham chunks
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups half and half
- 1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dill weed
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- CRUNCHY CRUMBLE TOPPING:
- 2 1/2 cups bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup shredded swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup walnus, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon dill weed
How To Make carole's turkey cordon bleu casserole

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. You will need a 9x13 baking dish [I prefer glass]

Step 2Layer the turkey, ham and cheese in a 9x13 dish.

Step 3Saute onion in butter; stir in flour and cook for a few seconds; blend in the half and half.

Step 4Add dry mustard, dill wed and nutmeg.

Step 5Bring to a boil, stirring until thickened.

Step 6Pour over the turkey, ham and cheese.

Step 7Top with the following Crunchy Crumble Topping

Step 8CRUNCHY CRUMBE TOPPING:

Step 9Combine the bread crumbs, cheese, walnuts, melted butter and dill weed together.

Step 10Sprinkle over the top of the casserole.

Step 11Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Step 12NOTE: I SOMETIMES MAKE THIS IN 2 8X8 PANS TO SHARE WITH A FRIEND OR NEIGHBOR.
