    lean ground beef
  • 8 oz
    bulk italian sausage
  • ·
    salt and pepper
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 1
    green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 6 c
    chopped savoy cabbage, chopped
  • 1-1/2 c
    uncooked long grain white rice
  • 1 can(s)
    (14.5 ounce) diced tomatoes
  • 8 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1 c
  • 1 tsp
    balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tsp
    fennel seed
  • 1 tsp
    italian seasoning
  • 1 pinch
    red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 c
    parmesan cheese

How to Make Cabbage and Rice Bake


  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. Brown ground beef and sausage with onion, bell pepper, and garlic, seasoning to taste with salt and pepper; drain off fat.
  3. Place meat mixture in a greased casserole with remaining ingredients and give it a stir.
  4. Sprinkle the top with Parmesan cheese and cover tightly with foil.
  5. Bake for 50-60 minute or until the rice gets tender.
