Ingredients

  • 8 ounces lean ground beef
  • 8 ounces bulk italian sausage
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 - green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 cups chopped savoy cabbage, chopped
  • 1-1/2 cup uncooked long grain white rice
  • 1 can (14.5 ounce) diced tomatoes
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons fennel seed
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

How To Make cabbage and rice bake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Step 2
    Brown ground beef and sausage with onion, bell pepper, and garlic, seasoning to taste with salt and pepper; drain off fat.
  • Step 3
    Place meat mixture in a greased casserole with remaining ingredients and give it a stir.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle the top with Parmesan cheese and cover tightly with foil.
  • Step 5
    Bake for 50-60 minute or until the rice gets tender.
