My mom was always trying to find a new way to cook ground meat when we were growing up. This is one of her concoctions. Pretty tasty when cooked on the grill!

Ingredients For mama's italian burgers

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 lg
    onion, diced small
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 2
    tablespoons each: bread crumbs, dried parsley
  • 1
    teaspoon each: salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1
    teaspoons each: dried oregano, rosemary
  • 4
    toasted hamburger buns
  • 4
    slices of mozzarella cheese
  • 4
    slices of tomatoes
  • 4
    lettuce leaves
  • ketchup, mustard, pickles

How To Make mama's italian burgers

    Mix ground beef with onion, garlic powder, bread crumbs, parsley, salt, pepper, basil, oregano, and rosemary.

    Form into 4 patties.

    I think these are best when cooked on the grill, about 4 minutes a side. They may also be pan fried.

    Place burgers on buns. Top with cheese, tomatoes and lettuce. Serve with ketchup, mustard and pickles.
