Ingredients
- 3 packages active dry yeast. (i use fleischmann's)
- 1 cup water, warm
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups flour
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 3 pounds ground beef
- 10 slices american cheese
- 1/2 - half of a small onion (chopped)
- 1/4 cup mustard
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise dressing
How To Make western burgers
-
Step 1Cook the ground meat and chopped onion until done. Drain and season with salt and pepper.
-
Step 2Turn heat down on low and add the american cheese slices, let melt.
-
Step 3Turn heat off and add the mayonnaise dressing and mustard. Stir in to the meat and cheese mixture. This is the filling to your burger.
-
Step 4Next is to make the dough. In 1cup of warm water, add the sugar, salt, and 3pkg of yeast to it. Stir to dissolve yeast and let set 1 minute.
-
Step 5In a large bowl put in the 4cups flour and 1/4cup oil. Add in the yeast water mixture a little at a time to make a (biscuit consistency dough).
-
Step 6Pinch off small handfulls of dough and roll it out on the counter top. Use some flour on the counter top so it doesnt stick. Add meat mixture to the center and fold the dough over it. It will appear to be like an enclosed biscuit or stuffed roll.
-
Step 7Cut out the excess dough around the edges. I found that using the top of a large cup and press down over the roll cuts out the roll perfectly.
-
Step 8Bake on a greased baking sheet on 375 until browned. Serve with mustard or mayonnaise dressing for dipping! I find that mustard gives better flavor and is the family favorite.
