unstuffed cabbage rolls

My husband has always loved cabbage rolls and I decided to create my own recipe for unstuffed cabbage rolls, making it quicker, easier & more flavorful. We both thought this was just delicious and better than any cabbage rolls we had ever eaten! Hope you like it! And such a quick & easy recipe!

Ingredients For unstuffed cabbage rolls

  • 1 - 1 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • md
    cabbage head, chopped
  • Large
    onion, diced
  • 2 Tbsp
    garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 can
    diced tomatoes ((14.5 oz)
  • 1 can
    stewed tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 1/2 can
    water
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 2 c
    cooked instant white rice
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 can
    tomato sauce (15 oz.)
  • About 1 c
    real bacon pieces

How To Make unstuffed cabbage rolls

    Add olive oil to large skillet. Heat. Add diced onions, ground beef. Brown, add garlic, cook for a minute or two, add butter, add Diced tomatoes including liquid, tomato sauce, and 1/2 can water.

    Crush stewed tomatoes with hands or blender including liquid, add to beef mixture.

    Add salt & pepper. Add bacon & cabbage. Put lid on & simmer for 15-20 min on low.

    Add cooked rice and stir well.
