This recipe was in my very first cookbook I received as a wedding shower present. That means I made this over 36 years ago! It is tasty, and it even gets tastier when you serve it the next day. It also freezes well.

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3 large onions, sliced (large onions are about 3 1/2 inches in diameter
- 1 large green pepper, chopped
- 1 pound canned tomatoes (undrained)
- 1/2 cup uncooked rice
- 1 to 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
How To Make texas hash

Step 1Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2In a large skillet, cook and stir beef until light brown. Drain off fat.

Step 3Add onions and green pepper to the skillet. Cook and stir until onion is tender.

Step 4Stir in tomoatoes, rice, and chili powder, salt, and pepper. Heat through.

Step 5Pour into ungreased two-quart casserole dish; cover and bake one hour.
