Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • 4 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sherry
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 3/4 pound sirloin steak, sliced into 1/8 inch thin strips
  • 4 green onions, halved length and cut into 2 inch pieceswise
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

How To Make sweet and tangy mandarin beef

  • Step 1
    In a bowl combine soy sauce into cornstarch and stir to make a slurry. Add soy sauce through garlic powder to slurry and mix well. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    Heat a wok or skillet on medium high heat. Add cooking oil and heat until shimmering. Add beef strips and stir-fry until no pink remains.
  • Step 3
    Add green onion and stir-fry until soft. Stir cornstarch mixture and add to meat and onions. Bring to a boil until thickened. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
