This recipe comes from (Eat what you Love) cook book. it's low in fat, and very simple to make. You can substitute turkey for beef, or use 1/2 each.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey (or half turkey & half beef)
  • 1/2 cup onion (diced)
  • 1 small bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 teaspoons all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup dr pepper (or cola) i use diet pepsi
  • 1/2 cup low sugar ketchup (regular is fine to)
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • - pinch of salt
  • 6 - whole wheat hamburger buns

How To Make surprise turkey joes

  • Step 1
    In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the turkey with the onion, & bell pepper. (drain)
  • Step 2
    add the remaining ingredients mix thoroughly. reduce the heat, & simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until thickened.
  • Step 3
    serve a scant 1/4 cup on each bun.
