I have an uncle who lived in Texas for quite a while and learned how to make great chili, this is one of his recipes.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1-1/2 pound boneless beef sirloin steak, 3/4"-thick, cut into 1/2" slices
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 3 cups spicy, chunky salsa
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 - 15 oz can red kidney beans, drained
  • - chili toppings: tomato, sour cream, shredded cheese

How To Make spicy texas chili

  • Step 1
    Heat 1 tbsp oil in lg pot, over med-high heat. In batches, brown beef. Remove beef from pot.
  • Step 2
    Add to pot 1 tbsp oil. Cook onion and garlic for 2 mins. Add salsa, water, chili powder, cumin, and beans.
  • Step 3
    Cover and cook over medium heat until heated through, and beef is tender. Top w/ chili toppings.
