garlic powder

ground cumin
2 tsp
1 tsp
chipotle chile powder
3/4 tsp
freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp
kosher salt
1/2 tsp
ground cinnamon
1 1/2 lb
flank steak, trimmed
1 Tbsp
extra-virgin olive oil
cooking spray

How to Make Spice-Rubbed Flank Steak with Fresh Salsa


  • 1Preheat grill to high heat.
  • 2To prepare salsa, combine the first 7 ingredients in a bowl.
  • 3To prepare steak, combine the garlic powder and the next 6 ingredients (through cinnamon). Brush both sides of the steak with olive oil, and sprinkle with the spice mixture.
  • 4Place the steak on a grill rack coated with cooking spray, and grill 4 minutes on each side or until it reaches the desired degree of doneness. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  • 5Cook the steak diagonally across the grain into thin slices. Serve with salsa.
