Got this recipe from my grandmother 50 years ago. I have tweaked it over the years and started cooking in a slow cooker instead of on stove or in oven for hours. You will love this. Enjoy !

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb
    beef stew meat
  • 2 Tbsp
    cooking oil
  • 2 medium
    potatoes, peeled and cubed-- 2 cups
  • 2 medium
    carrots cut into 1/2 " pieces --1 cup
  • 1 medium
    onion slicd into thin wedges
  • 1/2 c
    celery - sliced
  • 1 pkg
    frozen cut green beans (9 oz)
  • 1 Tbsp
    instant beef bouillon granules
  • 2 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 tsp
    dried thyme, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 can(s)
    tomatoes (16 oz) cut up
  • 1 1/2 c
    water

How to Make Slow Cooker Irish Stew

Step-by-Step

  1. Cut meat into 1/2-inch cubes.
  2. In a large skillet, brown meat, half at a time, in hot oil. Drain well.
  3. Meanwhile, in a 3-1/2-, 4-, 5-, or 6-quart crockery cooker, combine potatoes, carrots, onion, and celery. Add frozen beans, bouillon granules, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir in browned meat, undrained tomatoes, and water
  4. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 10 to 12 hours, or on high-heat setting for 5 to 6 hours. Makes 6 servings.
