Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 1 medium chopped red or green sweet pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 cups water
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 cup dry lentils, rinsed
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

How To Make sloppy joes with lentils

  • Step 1
    In a skillet, cook beef, onion, green pepper and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
  • Step 2
    Add the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 60-70 minutes or until lentils are tender. Serve on buns.
