I came across this recipe on another site, it struck me that with some tweeks it would be a winner.... and voila it was! My husband after one plate said, "honey this is a keeper, I hope you remember what you did". I went to the counter and wrote down what I did, and here it is. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did, 2 platefuls later.

3/4 c
long grain rice, uncooked
1/2 c
wild rice, uncooked
1 lb
ground beef
1 can(s)
cream of mushroom soup, reduced sodium
1 can(s)
water chestnuts, sliced
1 can(s)
mushroom pieces with liquid
1 can(s)
bamboo shoots
1/2 c
soy sauce
1 small
onion, chopped
green pepper, chopped
1 c
celery, chopped
1 clove
garlic, chopped

How to Make PJ's Wild Rice Hot Dish


  • 1Cook rice according to package directions. Brown ground beef, add onion, green pepper, celery and garlic. Cook until onions are translucent. When rice is done cooking place all ingredients in a large covered casserole, mix together.
  • 2Bake 45 minutes covered at 350 degrees.
    Let stand covered for additional 10 minutes.
    Do not add any additional salt.
