for a quick weekday recipe, try one of my personal favorites from childhood. i hope your family enjoys it as much as mine.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds sirloin steak cut into strips
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger root, minced
  • 1 - medium onion, sliced
  • 2 - green peppers, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced into wedges

How To Make pepper steak

  • Step 1
    heat oil in a skillet over med. high heat. add the steak and cook until browned, about 5 min.
  • Step 2
    add the water, garlic, ginger, and onion. heat to a boil, then cover and simmer for 10 min.
  • Step 3
    add the green peppers to the pan and continue to simmer with the lid on for about 5 minutes or until the peppers are tender.
  • Step 4
    in a small bowl stir together the soy sauce, sugar and cornstarch. add it to the pan and bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. cook for 1 minute.
  • Step 5
    Add the tomatoes and heat through. Serve over rice.
