Blue Ribbon Recipe

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
This is one hearty chili. With all the different beans in this recipe it's packed with flavor and delicious. There's just enough heat for this to have a kick. Bring this to your next tailgate and you'll be the all-star of the day.


1 lb
lean ground beef
1 small
poblano or jalapeno pepper, chopped
1 large
onion, chopped
1 large
green bell pepper, chopped
2 Tbsp
minced garlic
2 can(s)
Bush's chili beans, medium, 16 oz.
2 can(s)
Bush's chili beans, hot, 16 oz.
2 can(s)
kidney beans, canned (dark and light), 16 oz.
1 can(s)
black beans, 15 oz.
1 can(s)
pinto beans, 16 oz.
1 can(s)
tomato sauce, large, 28 oz.
1 c
picante sauce, medium
2 Tbsp
Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp
A-1 sauce
2 Tbsp
light brown sugar (or to taste, but you need some!)
chili powder, cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes to taste


1Brown ground beef with chopped poblano or jalapeno pepper, onion, green bell pepper and garlic. Drain the fat off when browned.
2In a large pot, add all ingredients together. Simmer for 2-3 hours, minimum. Taste frequently and adjust your ingredients to your taste.
3Top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Serve with my cornbread recipe or your favorite cornbread, crackers or fresh bread.
