new england-style beef and beans

This is a tradition in most New England families, especially in the fall. I made mine a little different by adding more than just pork and beans. More protein that way!!

Ingredients
- 1/2 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 pound maple-flavored bacon, diced.
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup packed, light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup favorite bbq sauce
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/ 16 oz ounces can pork and beans, undrained.
- 1/16 oz ounce can red kidney beans, rinsed, drained.
- 1/16 oz ounce can great nothern beans, rinsed, drained.
How To Make new england-style beef and beans

Step 1Spray a lg skillet w/ cooking spray, heat over med-high heat. Add ground beef, bacon and onion. Cook until beef is no longer pink. Drain fat from pan. In bowl, combine remaining ingredients, add to beef mix. Stir to mix well. Place in a 2-1/2-quart casserole dish. Bake, uncovered for 1 hr, stirring occasionally.
