My mom used to make this for my dad when he was workin in the lumber business. The smell of it used to drive me crazy enough to take a taste when no one was lookin. It tasted so good. Especially on mashed potatoes. fills you up nicely also.

Ingredients

1 lb
beef round steak
6 slice
bacon
1 small
onion
1 1/2 c
flour
1 can(s)
tomatoes, canned whole/cut
2 can(s)
mushrooms, canned
1 Tbsp
garlic salt
1/2 tsp
black pepper

How to Make Mom's Swiss Steak

Step-by-Step

  • 1fry bacon and onion together in electric skillet. Cook until onion is done. Remove bacon and onion and set aside.
  • 2Cut round steak into 4 sections. Set aside
  • 3Put flour and garlic salt, pepper into bag and shake until well blended.
  • 4Add steak sections to flour mixture. Shake until well coated. Place into the bacon dripping and lightly brown. Remove from skillet.
  • 5Add the bacon and onions back to skillet and turn to simmer. Add the meat. Pour can of whole tomatoes over the meat. Simmer for about 1 1/2 hour.
