Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds beef round steak
  • 1 can tomatoes, canned italian or stewed,with juice
  • 1 can tomato sauce, italian seasoned
  • 1/2 - diced onion
  • 3 sticks celery ribs or celery salt equiv.
  • 1 bunch small or chopped carrots
  • 1/8 teaspoon rosemary, dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1 dash worchester sauce
  • 1 dash soy sauce, low sodium
  • 6-8 medium potatoes (reserve to boil and mash as a side)

How To Make mom's swiss steak

  • Step 1
    coat meat in flour and Salt, pepper, 1/8 tsp rosemary or Italian seasonings.
  • Step 2
    sprinkle meat with dash of Worchester sauce and soy sauce.
  • Step 3
    place meat in hot oiled pan,( or casserole dish) cover with canned tomatoes and sauce, add vegtables. cook on stovetop covered on medium/low, til fork tender.
  • Step 4
    This may also be placed in casserole dish and baked in 350 for 1 hour or til tender. In meantime,boil peeled, chopped potatoes til fork tender,then drain and prepare by seasoning, with butter and S/P and mashing.
  • Step 5
    *if you enjoy green bell peppers you may add these for color and nutrition.
