Mom's Swiss Steak

1 1/2 lb
beef round steak
1 can(s)
tomatoes, canned italian or stewed,with juice
1 can(s)
tomato sauce, italian seasoned
diced onion
3 stick
celery ribs or celery salt equiv.
1 bunch
small or chopped carrots
1/8 tsp
rosemary, dried
1/4 tsp
italian seasoning
1 dash(es)
worchester sauce
1 dash(es)
soy sauce, low sodium
6-8 medium
potatoes (reserve to boil and mash as a side)


1coat meat in flour and Salt, pepper, 1/8 tsp rosemary or Italian seasonings.
2sprinkle meat with dash of Worchester sauce and soy sauce.
3place meat in hot oiled pan,( or casserole dish) cover with canned tomatoes and sauce, add vegtables. cook on stovetop covered on medium/low, til fork tender.
4This may also be placed in casserole dish and baked in 350 for 1 hour or til tender. In meantime,boil peeled, chopped potatoes til fork tender,then drain and prepare by seasoning, with butter and S/P and mashing.
5*if you enjoy green bell peppers you may add these for color and nutrition.
