mom's goulash

This something my mom made a lot of. We had 9 kids at home. This went along way. I just made one change to it. When my dad would make this he would use eather ground buffalo,or ground deer meat. I would like to thank my sis for given me this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 pound ground chuck (when dad made this he would use ground buffalo
  • 1 large sweet onion chopped
  • 1 large can tomato sauce.
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2-3 cups long grain rice, cooked
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon bacon fat for cooking meat
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth, reduced sodium

How To Make mom's goulash

  • Step 1
    in a large stock pan add bacon fat and ground chuck. Cook till no longer pink. In a med skillet,add bacon fat onions,and diced garlic,cook till transparent.
  • Step 2
    Add onions,garlic,tomato sauce,tomato paste,and 1-1/2 cups of beef broth. Add 1-1/2 tsp of suger,1tsp of salt &pepper . Cover and let simmer on med heat for 45 min. stir often to prevent sticking. Serve with french bread.
