martine's meatloaf

I've been making meatloaf this way since my mother taught me as a young girl. The topping came from a cousin who made her meatloaf for a dinner about 37 years ago! (Wow - did I say 37?!)

Ingredients
- MEATLOAF:
- 3 pounds ground beef
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 8 ounces tomato sauce, canned
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 - eggs
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup oats
- SPECIAL SAUCE:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
How To Make martine's meatloaf

Step 1Combine all MEATLOAF ingredients and mix thoroughly. Shape into loaf and place in baking dish or loaf pan.

Step 2Bake for 1 hour at 350°. Mix special sauce ingredients while meatloaf is baking.

Step 3Remove meatloaf from oven; very carefully tilt pan and scoop out grease.

Step 4Pour special sauce over the top and sides of the meatloaf. Cook 15 minutes more.
