A sweet-sour marinated flank steak. Prep time includes marinating time. Can be grilled instead of broiling.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef flank steak
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce, low sodium
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup dry sherry
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/3 cup green onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 teaspoons corn starch

How To Make maple marinated flank steak

  • Step 1
    Score meat diagonally on both sides. Place in a large zipper-type bag.
  • Step 2
    Combine remaining ingredients except water and corn starch, and pour over meat. Seal and refrigerate for several hours or overnight, turning the bag occasionally.
  • Step 3
    Reserve marinade. Place meat on a broiler pan rack. Let it sit to warm to room temperature. Preheat broiler.
  • Step 4
    Place rack 6-7 inches from heat. Broil 6-7 minutes per side for medium doneness.
  • Step 5
    Meanwhile, pour reserved marinade into a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Dissolve corn starch in water and add to the marinade. Stir 2 minutes or until thickened.
  • Step 6
    Slice meat against grain and serve with sauce.
