Throw this hobo casserole together on a busy night when you need a comforting and hearty dinner for your family. It's a very easy meat and potatoes dish. Ground beef is topped with chopped onions and sliced tomatoes. They're covered with a cream sauce, American cheese, and French fried onions. Once baked, the casserole is super creamy with a nice crunch from the French fried onions.

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, optional
  • 2 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1/8 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups French fried onions
