Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, optional
- 2 medium potatoes, sliced
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
- 1/8 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups French fried onions
How To Make hobo casserole

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2Pat ground beef into an 8x8 pan and sprinkle with salt and pepper. If using, chop the onion and sprinkle it on top of the beef.

Step 3Slice potatoes onto the onion layer. Salt and pepper.

Step 4Layer with cheese slices.

Step 5Mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Spread over the cheese. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until potatoes are tender.

Step 6Remove foil and top with French fried onions. Brown for about 5 minutes.
