This is only one of the many versions I have of the kind of stews i make.

Ingredients

  • 2-1/2 pound lean beef stew meat, cubed.
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 - bag frozen baby round onions, also called stew onions.
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 - 28 oz can diced tomatoes, undrained.
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 cups cubed potatoes
  • 2 cups sliced frozen carrots.

How To Make hearty beef stew

  • Step 1
    Coat beef in mix of flour, paprika and 1 tsp chili powder. Brown beef in butter in lg pot, over medium heat. Add onions and garlic. Cook until onions are a little soft. Add tomatoes, remaining chili powder, cinnamon, cloves and crushed red pepper. Cover, simmer for 2 hrs. Uncover, add potatoes and carrots. Simmer 1 hr or until potatoes and carrots are tender.
