Ingredients For hearty beef stew

  • 2-1/2 lb
    lean beef stew meat, cubed.
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    paprika
  • 1 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1
    bag frozen baby round onions, also called stew onions.
  • 1 tsp
    minced garlic
  • 1
    28 oz can diced tomatoes, undrained.
  • 3 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1 tsp
    crushed red pepper
  • 2 c
    cubed potatoes
  • 2 c
    sliced frozen carrots.

How To Make hearty beef stew

  • 1
    Coat beef in mix of flour, paprika and 1 tsp chili powder. Brown beef in butter in lg pot, over medium heat. Add onions and garlic. Cook until onions are a little soft. Add tomatoes, remaining chili powder, cinnamon, cloves and crushed red pepper. Cover, simmer for 2 hrs. Uncover, add potatoes and carrots. Simmer 1 hr or until potatoes and carrots are tender.
