This recipe is from my dad's side of the family. Given to us in 1993 which is very good fried or baked it's simular to Salisbury Steak.

Ingredients

  • 1 package saltine crackers (1 sleeve)
  • 1 - egg
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 packages brown gravy mix
  • 1 package 10oz egg noodles
  • 2 pounds ground chuck

How To Make hamburger steak

  • Step 1
    Crush crackers in a large bowl, mix hamburger meat, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper to taste, and 1/2 pouch of brown gravy mix,thoroughly combine by hand.
  • Step 2
    Form into small patties and drench in flour to cover.
  • Step 3
    In a large skillet cook over medium heat until browned on both sides. Save drippings for gravy.
  • Step 4
    Mix brown gravy mix according to directions (1 1/2 pouches) and pour into skillet. Bring to a boil, it will begin to thicken. Add patties back into the gravy and simmer for 30 minutes. Add enough water to keep the gravy at perfect consistency.
  • Step 5
    Prepare noodles while simmering the meat. Drain and add butter to noodles to coat. Serve meat and gravy on top of the noodles garnish with chopped chives.
