deep dish beef pie
I have made this a few times. Sometimes I use left over stew from the night before. It's a better way of using leftovers. My uncle calls it "day after stew pie" kind of as a personal family joke.

Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless beef sirloin,1/2 inch pieces
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1 cup carrots, sliced
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups tomato juice
- 3/4 teaspoon basil, dried
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 2 cups green beans
- 1 teaspoon milk
- 1 - pie crust shell
How To Make deep dish beef pie

Step 1Spray large frying pan or skillet with non-stick oil. Heat pan over medium heat. Heat oven to 400F.

Step 2Brown half the meat at a time. Return all the meat to the pan.

Step 3Stir in the next 9 ingredients, cover pan & let simmer for about 50 to 60 mins or until meat is nearly tender.

Step 4Combine the flour with with 2 tsp. of water & stir into a mixture. Pour over the meat & veggies & cook until thickened. Make sure to mix offen & it should be bubbly.

Step 5Then stir in the green beans.

Step 6Stir into 1 1/2 quart casserole baking dish.

Step 7Cover with pastry crust top, flute the edges, cut vents for steam & brush with the milk.

Step 8Bake for about 30 mins or until pie crust is lightly brown & mixture is tender.
