My dad would make this on a saturday night as a special dinner and serve it with garlic bread, homemade of course!

Ingredients

  • 1 large
    onion, chopped
  • 1
    red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1
    green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    minced garlic from a jar, in olive oil
  • 1
    28 oz can crushed tomatoes w/ italian seasonings
  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef, i used ground turkey breast
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • ·
    hot sauce to taste
  • 2 c
    elbow macaroni, i used ronzoni healthy harvest
  • 1 Tbsp
    canola oil

How to Make Dads easy American chop suey

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oil in lg skillet over medium heat. Add onions, peppers and garlic. Saute for about 5 mins. Add beef or ground turkey. Cook until browned.
  2. Place all ingredients in lg pot. Add tomatoes. Cover, simmer over med-low. Cook pasta as directed, but only until almost done. Drain. Add pasta to pot. Simmer 1/2 hr. Season w/ salt, pepper and hot sauce.
