This recipe is rich, delicious and rustic. The flavors all come together and melt in your mouth. Served with a nice crusty piece of bread you will have all you need to delight everyone's palate. Great for a family meal or a scrumptious pot luck dish.

Ingredients For crock pot beef bourguinon

  • 5 slice
    bacon
  • 2-3 lb
    london broil or beef chuck
  • 1 c
    cabernet sauvignon
  • 2 c
    beef broth
  • 1/2 can
    tomato paste (3oz)
  • 2 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c
    flour
  • 3 clove
    garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh thyme
  • 5-6
    carrots
  • 1 bag
    pearl onions
  • 8
    baby red potatoes
  • 8 oz
    fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • chopped parsley or thyme for garnish

How To Make crock pot beef bourguinon

    finely chop the bacon and render it down in a large skillet until crisp. Then put it over into the crock pot.

    Cube up beef into 1 inch cubes, Salt and pepper the beef and sear until brown on all sides. Transfer to slow cooker.

    Add the cabernet to the skillet stirring up all the brown bits and bring to a simmer.

    In a bowl on the side, whisk the tomato paste together into the beef broth, add the thyme, garlic, worcestershire and soy sauce. Add the mixture to the cabernet in skillet, bring again to a simmer. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk. whisk in the 1/2 stick of butter then pour sauce over meat in crock pot.

    Quarter the potatoes, chop carrots to desired size (I like them rustic and chunky) peel the pearl onions and add all of it into the crock pot. Add the sliced mushrooms and stir lightly.

    Cook on high 5-6 hours or low for 9-10 hours. Sprinkle with chopped thyme or parsley garnish and serve with a rustic crusty bread or garlic toast. Enjoy :)
