This is a dish I like to make when I am feeling "homey", you all know that feeling. It is a simple food that satisfies as an entire meal. The flavor of the cabbage, ground beef and tomato soup marries well. I hope you enjoy this dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    ground beef, browned and drained
  • 1 small
    onion, chopped
  • 1 small
    cabbage head, thinly sliced into shreds
  • 1/2 c
    raw, white rice
  • 1 can(s)
    tomato soup
  • 1 can(s)
    of water
  • ·
    salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder

How to Make Comfort Casserole with Green Cabbage

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown the ground beef with the onion and garlic in a covered skillet, turning occasionally.
  2. Layer the cabbage, meat and rice into a large, buttered casserole dish, alternating the layers.
  3. Mix the soup with the can of water adding the salt and pepper. Pour this over the other ingredients.
  4. Cover and bake for 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and let set for 10 minutes before serving.
