Chili always does the trick for me.It warms me up and it is also good on a hotdog with coleslaw or even nachos,as well as on a loaded baked potato with cheese, sour cream, and chives,or just by itself with oyster crackers on the side.

  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/2 c
    chopped green onion
  • 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef or ground turkey breast
  • 2 Tbsp
    hot chili powder
  • 1
    28-oz.can fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1
    15-oz.can black beans,rinsed and drained
  • 1 medium
    bell pepper,cored,seeded and diced
  • 4
    carrots,peeled and grated
  • 1/2 tsp
    brown sugar
  • pinch
    a pinch of salt



  1. In a large saucepan,heat the oil over medium heat.Add the garlic and green onion and cook for about 1 minute.Add the ground beef and cook until browned,about (5) minutes.
  2. Stir in the chili powder until fully combined.Add the tomatoes,beans,bell pepper,carrots,brown sugar and salt.Bring the mixture to a boil,then reduce the heat to low.Cover and simmer the chili for (15) minutes.add to bowls serve as is or top with shredded cheese fresh chives and sour cream.
  3. serves(6).Each serving is (183)calories,if you do not top the chili with shredded cheese.
