Ingredients

cabbage head
1 lb
lean ground beef
1/3 c
raw rice
1 medium
onion
1 medium
egg
1 tsp
lemon juice
1 tsp
sugar
salt and pepper to taste

SAUCE

1 16 oz. can(s)
tomatoes
16 oz
tomato sauce
1 c
tomato juice
1/2 c
brown sugar
2 tsp
lemon juice
dash worcestershire sauce
salt & pepper to taste

How to Make Cabbage Rolls or Prachas

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cook whole cabbage in boiling water until tender; cool. Combine ground beef, rice, onion, egg, lemon juice and sugar. Salt and pepper to taste. Place a small amount of beef mixture in each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking ends in.
  • 2Drain tomatoes (reserve liquid for later) and combine with the rest of ingredients in large pot. Add cabbage rolls and simmer on low heat 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Add reserved liquid if needed during cooking. You can do this in a slow cooker and cook 6 - 8 hours.
