This cabbage rolls recipe has been in our family for years. It is delicious and so easy to make. Everyone loves them. When I was working, my peers always wanted these for our potlucks. Delicious!

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/4 lb
    ground pork
  • 2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 3/4 c
    cooked rice
  • 1 small
    minced onion
  • 2 can(s)
    8 oz. tomatoe sauce
  • 12 large
    cabbage leaves
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    lemon juice or vinegar

How to Make Connie's Cabbage Rolls


  1. combine meat, salt, pepper, rice, onion, and 1 can tomatoe sauce.
  2. cover cabbage leaves with boiling water for 4 minutes.
  3. place portions of meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf.
  4. roll up, folding ends over.
  5. place seam side down in skillet.
  6. mix remaing tomatoe sauce with brown sugar and lemon juice.
  7. pour mixture over rolls.
  8. simmer covered 1 to 1 1/2 hours, basting often.
