The casserole turned out great and was much easier than sitting there and rolling each leaf with meat & rice. The result was great without all the work.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups chopped cabbage
  • 1 cup cooked or instant rice
  • 1 tablespoon dry minced onion
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 15 ounces can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce

How To Make cabbage roll casserole

  • Step 1
    Steam cabbage for a few minutes. Drain
  • Step 2
    In bowl, combine cooked ot instant rice, onion, beef, salt & pepper.
  • Step 3
    In greased casserole dish, place half of cabbage.
  • Step 4
    Press all of meat mixture then top with remaining cabbage.
  • Step 5
    In small bowl, combine water, tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon & Worcestershire sauce. Pour over cabbage. Sprinkle with salt & pepper
  • Step 6
    Cover with foil & bake until meat is done & cabbage is tender
