Cabbage Roll Casserole

The casserole turned out great and was much easier than sitting there and rolling each leaf with meat & rice. The result was great without all the work.

  • 8 c
    chopped cabbage
  • 1 c
    cooked or instant rice
  • 1 Tbsp
    dry minced onion
  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp
  • 3/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 15 oz
    can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 2 tsp
    worcestershire sauce

How to Make Cabbage Roll Casserole


  1. Steam cabbage for a few minutes. Drain
  2. In bowl, combine cooked ot instant rice, onion, beef, salt & pepper.
  3. In greased casserole dish, place half of cabbage.
  4. Press all of meat mixture then top with remaining cabbage.
  5. In small bowl, combine water, tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon & Worcestershire sauce. Pour over cabbage. Sprinkle with salt & pepper
  6. Cover with foil & bake until meat is done & cabbage is tender
