Recipe by

Who doesn't love a meatball? However, a Giant Meatball is even better. Great for the main entree, and a nice presentation for company. These meatballs can be frozen, too. However, they are also perfect for meatball sandwiches, or a midnight snack. We know these things. :) Enjoy! This humble recipe and photos are my own.

Ingredients For bonnie's giant meatballs

  • 1 pound fresh ground beef
  • 4 links johnson's sweet sausage, casings removed
  • 1 medium onion, diced small
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons coarse ground black pepper
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon leaf thyme
  • 2 teaspoons leaf cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons dried cumen
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese from shaker
  • 1/2 cup panko

How To Make bonnie's giant meatballs

  • 1
Pour 3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce in a large mixing bowl; add 2 eggs and beat with a fork. Add the rest of the seasonings with the exception of the Parmesan Cheese and the Panko Bread Crumbs, and set aside.
  • 2
Remove the casings from the 4 links of Sweet Sausage. Mixing gently, combine the Sweet Sausage and the one pound of Ground Beef together in a medium mixing bowl.
  • 3
Now, add the meat to the large mixing bowl, and mix with the seasonings.
  • 4
Form balls with care. I use the largest size ice cream scoop to form the balls. The mixture should be well mixed, but not over mixed or the meatballs may be tough. Gently fold in the Parmesan Cheese, and then slowly add the Panko Bread Crumbs to the meat mixture and mix it in until you have a mixture that is medium firm, and one that is not too dry, nor one that is too wet. If it is too wet, add another spoon of Panko or two and just enough to make the mixture hold its shape.

Use a large sheet pan with a lip, lined with tin foil and a rack for the meatballs. Spray the pan and rack with kitchen spray and add the meatballs. Space them about an inch apart.
  • 6
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and bake the meatballs until an instant read thermometer says they are at about 163 degrees. They should be nice and brown, tender and juicy. It is important not to overcook meatballs. Remove from oven and tent the meatballs with foil to keep them warm. They will continue to cook.

The End Result. Serve as you wish. I drizzled my husband's famous spaghetti sauce with mushrooms over the top of the meatballs. Use your imagination and use whatever sauce you wish. These meatballs make wonderful sandwiches! Enjoy!
