This has been in my family for as long as I can remember. Wonderful served with biscuit or homemade bread. It is unique in flavor. Family and friends seem to love it for there is never any left.

Ingredients

2 lb
beef stew meat
2 medium
onions chopped in fairly large pieces
1 can(s)
beef broth
4 c
boiling water
1 large
bay leaf

whole cloves
1/4 c
flour
4 Tbsp
oil
2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
black pepper
1 small
can tomato sauce
1 can(s)
(16 oz) green lima bean

carrots large chopped
4 medium
potato chopped fairly large chunks

How to Make Beef Stew

Step-by-Step

  • 1Using a dutch pot heat oil;
    Combine flour,salt, pepper in a paper sack;
    Place a few pieces of stew beef in paper sack shake;
    Brown in oil a few pieces at time;
    Add: onions, stew meat, the 6 cloves, bay leaf,broth and boiling water
    Simmer on low for 3 hours or until meat is tender
    Add: tomato sauce,carrots,and lima beans cook until vegetables are tender.
