beef essentials: spicy ground beef & cabbage
Although you can jazz this dish up by add additional veggies, I prefer to keep it relatively simple. It’s got just the right amount of spice, and yet it’s not overly spicy. Plus, it can be on the table in thirty quick minutes. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How To Make beef essentials: spicy ground beef & cabbage
-
Step 1PREP/PREPARE
-
Step 2Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
-
Step 3Chef’s Note: For the ground chuck steak… buy it from your butcher, and have him course grind the meat. Another term for coarsely ground beef is: Chili Grind.
-
Step 4Add the butter and grapeseed oil to a skillet over medium heat.
-
Step 5When the foaming subsides, add the chopped onions.
-
Step 6Cook until the onions soften, and begin to brown, about 5 – 7 minutes.
-
Step 7Add the garlic, and sauté until fragrant, about 60 seconds.
-
Step 8Add the coarsely ground beef to the pan.
-
Step 9Stir in the tamari sauce, coconut sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and white pepper.
-
Step 10Sauté until the beef is cooked through and brown, about 6 – 8 minutes.
-
Step 11Chef’s Note: Because of the tamari sauce, you probably won’t need to add any salt.
-
Step 12Add the cabbage, and shredded carrots.
-
Step 13Sauté, until the cabbage wilts and softens, about 4 – 6 minutes.
-
Step 14PLATE/PRESENT
-
Step 15Serve up while still nice and warm, and expect your guests to come back for seconds. Enjoy.
-
Step 16Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
