Ingredients

  • 1 pound sirloin steak
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 12 ounces beer
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 3 large carrots, scraped and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • - hot, cooked rice

How To Make beef bavarian on rice

  • Step 1
    Trim the fat from the steak; pound ot 1/2 inch thickness, using a meat mallet. Slice the steak diagonally across the grain into 2 x 1 inch strips.
  • Step 2
    Combine 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch, salt, garlic powder, and pepper; stir well. Dredge the steak strips in cornstarch mixture.
  • Step 3
    Cook the strips in the oil in a large skillet until browned. Add the onion, and cook 3 minutes. Stir in beer and the next 3 ingredients. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add carrot; cover and simmer 15 minutes or until the carrot is tender.
  • Step 5
    Combine the water and 2 tablespoons cornstarch; gradually stir into the beef mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Serve over rice.
