Virginia (Ginger) Dean

This is my youngest daughter's absolute favorite baked bean casserole. It is a really good recipe and ever so easy to make. I use Vegetarian Baked Beans and Turkey Strips instead of pork and beans or pork bacon so it is healthier for you.

Add to Grocery List

  • 1 lb
lean ground beef (no more than 10% fat)
  • 1 can(s)
    28 ounce, vegetarian baked beans
  • 1 can(s)
    14.5 ounces diced tomatoes, drained
  • ·
salt and pepper to taste (optional)
  • 1 large
vidalia or sweet type onion, sliced
  • 7 slice
    oscar mayer® turkey bacon
  • 1/2 c
brown sugar (not packed)/ (or to taste)

How to Make Beef, Bacon, & Bean Dinner

  1. Saute beef lightly, draining excess fat away. Add beans, salt & pepper, and drained tomatoes.
  2. Spread half of beef mixture in bottom of 2 quart casserole dish. Cover with sliced onions, then add remainder of beef mixture.
  3. Arrange turkey bacon slices over the top and sprinkle a thin layer of brown sugar over all.
Bake at 350 degrees covered for 45 minutes. Then uncover and continue baking for 15 more minutes. (1 hour total baking time)
  4. Note: I use Oscar Mayer Turkey® Bacon because to me it tastes better than any other brand out there. But if you prefer another brand use it.
