This was given me a long time ago by a "Bachelor." He told me it was his mainstay dish all through college and he still likes and cooks it now even though he has since married.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds chuck roast
- 1/3 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large onion, cut into 8's
- 3 medium carrots, cut into 4" strips
- 4 - celery ribs, cut into 1" pieces
- 1 teaspoon basil, dried
- 1/3 cup tapioca
- 4 ounces mushrooms, drained
- 1 teaspoon kitchen boquet
- 2 cans condensed tomato soup
- 1 can beef broth
How To Make bachelor stew

Step 1Cut chuck into 1-2" cubes. Roll in dry bread crumbs. Place in slow cooker. (do not brown)and add rest of ingredients. Put setting on low 10-12 hours or high 3-5 hours.

Step 21/2 cup of Sauterne or other wine of your choice - optional.
