Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon powdered ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ac'cent powder
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon brown sauce
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 cup celery, cut diagonally
  • 1/2 cup green onions, cut 1
  • 1 can water chestnuts
  • 1 cup salted cashew nuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 6 medium servings of cooked rice, per package directions

How To Make oriental cashew chicken

  • Step 1
    Cut chicken into bite size pieces and sprinkle with salt, ginger, and ac'cent.
  • Step 2
    Heat oil in heavy skillet and add chicken. Stir and toss rapidly. (can also use wok) (Do not overcook or brown meat. Cook until it loses its pink color.
  • Step 3
    Add 1 clove garlic (thinly sliced), onion, and celery.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle with sugar and cook all together about 5 minutes. Vegetables should retain their crispness.
  • Step 5
    Add water chestnuts and continue to stir together.
  • Step 6
    Combine cornstarch, water, soy sauce, and brown sauce. Pour over meat and vegetables. Cook until sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Add cashew nuts. Add soy sauce and salt to taste preferences. Serve over hot cooked rice. Enjoy! :)
