Ingredients

  • 2 large
    chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    powdered ginger
  • 1/4 tsp
    ac'cent powder
  • 3 Tbsp
    oil
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 2 tsp
    cornstarch
  • 1 tsp
    brown sauce
  • 1 clove
    garlic
  • 1/2 c
    celery, cut diagonally
  • 1/2 c
    green onions, cut 1
  • 1 can(s)
    water chestnuts
  • 1 c
    salted cashew nuts
  • 1/2 tsp
    sugar
  • 6 medium
    servings of cooked rice, per package directions

How to Make Oriental Cashew Chicken

Step-by-Step

  1. Cut chicken into bite size pieces and sprinkle with salt, ginger, and ac'cent.
  2. Heat oil in heavy skillet and add chicken. Stir and toss rapidly. (can also use wok) (Do not overcook or brown meat. Cook until it loses its pink color.
  3. Add 1 clove garlic (thinly sliced), onion, and celery.
  4. Sprinkle with sugar and cook all together about 5 minutes. Vegetables should retain their crispness.
  5. Add water chestnuts and continue to stir together.
  6. Combine cornstarch, water, soy sauce, and brown sauce. Pour over meat and vegetables. Cook until sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes.
  7. Add cashew nuts. Add soy sauce and salt to taste preferences. Serve over hot cooked rice. Enjoy! :)
