My favorite winter smoothie! Simple healthy recipe from "Meals That Heal". I make this quite often year round, but it's a great winter smoothie to start the day since the banana's make it hearty and the ginger "warms" you up. I sometimes toss a handful of dry oats into the blender with it. It's a great quick breakfast or snack that will keep you going for hours. Yummy too!!

Ingredients

  • 1 small frozen banana cut into chunks
  • 1 cup fat free vanilla yogurt (i usually just use ff greak yogurt or dannon natural plain & add vanilla extract)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 - 1/2 inch chunk (or less) of fresh peeled ginger root.

How To Make banana ginger smoothie

  • Step 1
Grate ginger if using a regular blender or if you have a Vita-Mixer just throw the whole chunk in with other ingedients.
  • Step 2
Toss all ingredients (along w/ice if you'd like) into mixer and blend until smooth. Use a little less ginger if you prefer it less spicy or more if you'd like. It's very good for you and really wakes you up ... even better than that morning cup of coffee!
