Even if you don't like cider, you'll want to cook up some of this for the wonderful holiday smells that will permeate your house. If you do like cider, you'll love this recipe. I carry this to office Christmas potlucks in a crockpot and never bring any home.

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon apple cider or apple juice
  • 4 ounces cinnamon bark (or sticks)
  • 4 ounces whole cloves
  • 4 ounces allspice
  • 4 ounces orange peel
  • 1 dash cinnamon oil
  • 1 dash orange oil
  • 1 ounce lemon peel
  • 1 pinch coriander seed (optional but adds oomph)

How To Make mulled cider (sallye)

  • Step 1
    Bring juice to simmer stage Place spices in a tea ball or tie in a cheese cloth square Add spices to cider, turn off heat and steep for 15-30 minutes
  • Step 2
    Alternate: Pour cider into crockpot which is turned on to high Allow to come to simmer Turn down to low, drop spices into crockpot and leave setting on "serve" It will generally last throughout a buffet dinner.
  • Step 3
    To reheat, pour into cup and zap in microwave for about 30 seconds.
