Strawberry Jasmine Sun Tea

Store tea in the fridge when not in use; after two days discard the leftovers. Since all the water is not boiled in this method, it won't be good to drink after a day or two. This is a good way to make a lot of beverage for get-togethers.

My mother uses this method and adds gooseberries to her boiling strawberry water.

Its very thunderstormy here in the midwest so sun tea is out of the question today, but when I do make it next time, I'll post the real picture :)

Blue Ribbon Recipe

This tea is super refreshing and great for a hot summer day. I never had jasmine tea before, but I loved the flavor and light taste. No extra sugar is needed for this thanks to the sweetness from the honey and mint. But if you like your tea very sweet, you can add sugar when serving. Great for your summer cookout! Ingredients

3 gal
water
1 pt
strawberries
bunch
fresh mint
5
jasmine tea bags
1/2 c
honey
3 gallon glass beverage dispenser/jug

How to Make Strawberry Jasmine Sun Tea

Step-by-Step

  • 1Wash strawberries and mint. Chop leaves/tops off strawberries and cut them in half.
  • 2In large pot, use some of the water to boil strawberries and mint. Reduce, add honey and mix well, and let simmer for about 25 - 30 minutes, until the strawberries lose most of their color.
  • 3In the meantime, wash thoroughly the beverage container you will be leaving out in the sun.
  • 4Pour everything, strawberries and all, into the clear beverage dispenser (glass is best to use, I think). Add the rest of the water (room temp), and the jasmine tea bags.
  • 5Leave container out in the sun for about 4 hours (less time if you are making smaller quantity).
  • 6Serve over ice, add sugar if you wish, garnish with orange or lemon and enjoy!
