Tea is the wine of the south! Served with every meal. My mother used to make it by the gallon and we drank it all day long. Of course I had to be different, I don't like sugar in my tea. I think sugar messes up the tea flavor.

family size tea bags
1/4 tsp
baking soda
1 c
sugar
water

How to Make Southern Sweet Tea

Step-by-Step

  • 1Bring 3 - 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the baking soda, then the tea bags.
  • 2Remove from heat and cover. Allow to steep for at least 15 minutes.
  • 3Add about 1 cup water to gallon jar. Then add sugar and stir until it is dissolved.
  • 4Fill the jar with cold water. Serve over ice.
