There's no reason to have all the sugar and preservatives in bottled teas. Here's one made for the deck or picnic thermos. Use a strong English breakfast or Irish breakfast tea.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

  • 3 3/4 dash(es)
    brewed black tea, cooled
  • 2 c
    unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 1/4 c
    ginger juice (see note)
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract

How to Make Pineapple Ginger Tea

Step-by-Step

  1. 1.Mix all the ingredients together in a large pitcher. Serve over ice.
  2. Note: Ginger juice is available in small bottles in the drink or spice aisle of most large supermarkets. Or make your own: Place 2/3 cup peeled, sliced ginger in a food processor fitted with the chopping blade, or a blender. Add 1/4 cup brewed black tea, and process or blend until very finely ground. Press the mixture through a strainer to get rid of any fibrous solids. Reduce the tea in the recipe to 3 1/2 cups and use 1/2 cup of this ginger liquid.
