Vermouth is a great drink to serve with appetizers. Salty things are especially good with vermouth. Try it with pickles, potato chips, olives and salty meats such as Prosciutto. This of this wine cocktail as part of your appetizer course. It would be amazing with these salty, fried oysters. You may want to serve this Polenta recipe next. Although this recipe calls out Pinot Grigio, feel free to swap out any unoaked white wine that you like. Look for white wine aged in concrete or stainless steel instead.

Ingredients For sweet vermouth

  • 1 tsp
    organic juniper berries
  • 1
    cinnamon stick
  • 1
    chamomile tea bag
  • 1
    rooibos tea bag
  • 5
    organic star anise pod
  • 5
    sage leaves
  • 1
    orange rind
  • 8
    cardamom pods
  • 2 tsp
    coriander seeds
  • 2 bottle
    pinot gris
  • 1 c
    sweet sherry

How To Make sweet vermouth

    Peel the orange. Make sure the remove the white pith from the rind.

    Add all the ingredients, except the Sherry, to a large pot.

    Cook on the lowest setting of your stove.

    When the pot just begins to steam, take pot off the heat.

    Add the sherry immediately.

    Let the mixture steep for at least a day and up to two weeks.

    Taste until you like the amount of herb flavors in the mixture.

    Strain out the herbs with a cheese cloth.
  • 9
    Store in a dark, cool place or refrigerate.
