Ingredients

  • 3 - cups whole milk
  • 1 - cup half n half cream
  • 8 - tsp instant coffee
  • 2 - tsp grated orange rind
  • 5 - small eggs
  • 1/2 - cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 - tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 - tsp pure almond extract
  • 1/2 - tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/16 - tsp freshly ground nutmeg
  • - deluce de leche (garnish)
  • - toasted coconut (garnish)

How To Make rich coffee custard

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a large pot add milk and cream. Scald the milk then add the instant coffee and orange rind. Stir well and set aside to cool for 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
    On low speed, gently beat 4 eggs and 1 egg yolk, add the white sugar; then slowly add in the coffee mixture, vanilla, almond extracts and salt. Make sure to blend it well.
  • Step 3
    Pour the pudding into your custard cups and sprinkle the nutmeg on top.
  • Step 4
    Put your filled custard cups in a shallow pan that is filled with cold water. (about 3/4 inch from the top of your cups) Place the pan in the preheated oven for an hour. Remove from oven and pan, cool then chill until ready to use.
  • Step 5
    When ready to serve, turn upside down on serving plate and garnish with a tablespoon swirl of Dulce de Leche and sprinkle toasted coconut on top. I hope you enjoy!
