This recipe relies on the starch from rice to thicken the pudding. For those of you watching their fat intake, this is a good dessert to consider.

Haven't made this in a long time so I don't have a picture to upload with this recipe.

skim milk
1/2 c
uncooked long grain rice
1/3 c
1/2 tsp
1/2 c
1 tsp
vanilla extract
ground cinnamon, optional

How to Make Old-Fashioned Rice Pudding


  • 1In a saucepan, combine milk, rice, sugar and salt; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • 2Pour into a greased 1-1/2 quart baking dish. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  • 3Add raisins and vanilla; cover and bake 15 minutes longer. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired. Serve warm or chilled. Store in the refrigerator.
