mom's bread pudding

Just a note, this is not typical bread pudding. It is more of a custard with bread on top. I grew up with this bread pudding, and think it is the best.

Ingredients
- 1 quart milk
- 1 - scant cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- - nutmeg to taste
- 4 - eggs
- - bread slices or cinnamon buns
- - cinnamon sugar
- - butter to spread
How To Make mom's bread pudding

Step 1Scald milk. Mix eggs and add sugar, vanilla and nutmeg. Pour a little milk into eggs and mix. Pour egg, milk combination into remaining milk. Pour all into glass baking dish.

Step 2Add buttered bread slices, and sprinkle with sugar and nutmeg.

Step 3Bake 1 hr. to 1 hr & 20 min. in pan of water at 325 degrees. Test with a clean cold knife blade.
