Just a note, this is not typical bread pudding. It is more of a custard with bread on top. I grew up with this bread pudding, and think it is the best.

Ingredients For mom's bread pudding

1 qtmilk

1scant cup sugar

1 tspvanilla

nutmeg to taste

4eggs

bread slices or cinnamon buns

cinnamon sugar

How To Make mom's bread pudding

1Scald milk. Mix eggs and add sugar, vanilla and nutmeg. Pour a little milk into eggs and mix. Pour egg, milk combination into remaining milk. Pour all into glass baking dish.

2Add buttered bread slices, and sprinkle with sugar and nutmeg.

3Bake 1 hr. to 1 hr & 20 min. in pan of water at 325 degrees. Test with a clean cold knife blade.
