- 3 cups milk
- 1 2 inch strip of lemon rind, remove white membrane
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- 1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise & scraped
- 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
- 3/4 - 1 cups white sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 4 jumbo, egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons milk
- pinch nutmeg, fresh ground, garnish
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, fresh ground, garnish
How To Make comforting homemade custard

Step 1Put a large pan on the stove and add the milk, lemon zest, cinnamon stick, vanilla pod and salt; bring to a slow simmer.

Step 2Pour the sugar, flour, egg yolks and 2 tablespoons of milk into a bowl; stir until smooth.

Step 3Remove the lemon, cinnamon stick and vanilla pod from the simmered milk.

Step 4Pour the sugar mixture into the simmered milk, stirring constantly. Stir until smooth over medium heat for about 10 minutes.

Step 5Remove the pot from heat. Pour into serving dishes and place in fridge to chill until ready to serve.

Step 6When ready to serve, garnish with a little fresh ground nutmeg and cinnamon. Enjoy!
