butterscotch pumpkin sauce
I am using this sauce in both my Butterscotch Pumpkin Oatmeal and Butterscotch Pumpkin Monkey Bread from Scratch recipes. But you can use it in anything you like, even atop ice cream. I was thinking of adding a cup to my Banana Chocolate Chunk Bread batter.

This simple pumpkin sauce tastes like a mellow pumpkin pie, and it's delicious. There are hints of caramel flavor from the brown sugar and cinnamon. It's creamy and rich. We tried it on ice cream and oatmeal; both were tasty. It could be a dip for apples or even served atop waffles or French toast.

Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon scotch (optional)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or whole milk
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 can pure pumpkin (15 oz)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spices
How To Make butterscotch pumpkin sauce

Step 1In a saucepan, add butter, brown sugar, and scotch.

Step 2On medium heat, whisk continually until the sugar is totally melted.

Step 3Add vanilla.

Step 4Add cream. Continue to mix. Lower heat to low/medium.

Step 5Add pumpkin, salt, and spices. Mix well.
